100 Mandalas in 100 Days

In 2013, I set a goal for myself of creating 52 mandalas in 52 weeks. I achieved this goal and enjoyed it immensely. Last year, I focused more on creative journaling, and less on mandalas, but I find that I missed the practice. I created a few of them, but not nearly enough to satisfy my pull towards the mandala. This year, I joined a group that encourages people to create 100 mandalas in 100 days. The twist to this concept is that these mandalas do not have to be created in 100 consecutive days. It is organized by Kathryn Costa of True North Arts, and she sends out a weekly email offering creative ideas for a mandala, and once a month we will be exploring one of the twelve stages discussed in Susanne Fincher's book The Mandala Workbook. I bought the book, I signed up for the emails, and I created my first of 100 mandalas, following her prompt for finding my word for 2015. I centered on the word, ACTION, as my hope for this year is to be more active. I don't just mean by working out, but by being active in all aspects of my life. I want to begin cooking more, begin sorting through more household items in preparation for our move in a few years, begin working more on organizing our files into evernote, and so on. I want to get up early, actively clear out things that need doing, and then leave myself time to actively art journal, or create mandalas, or paint, or knit, or read - those things that make me happy and content. I want to be more active, and less sendentary!
