A New Year ... A New Attempt at Regular Blogging!

Happy New Year to everyone, and all the best in 2016!

I'm hoping to be a little more organized this year, especially with so much that will be happening in the next 12 months! In fact, I just realized that this will be my word for 2016 - ORGANIZE!

Anyway, I had a wonderful Christmas with Blair, Craig, and Brad. We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day together, which was really my favorite gift of the season. However, I also received some other fantastic gifts.

My art supplies received a huge boost with the addition of the following items:

The large box of 60 markers in the middle on the left were from Craig. The Star Wars coloring book and the coloring pencils in the middle on the right were from my dear friends, David and Valerie. The rest of the luscious supplies are from my thoughtful husband, Blair.

Brad bought me this party game, including 6 expansion packs and a "Bigger, Blacker Box" to carry it all in:

and we spent part of Christmas Day playing it!

New Year's Eve was spent in Sudbury, Ontario, with Blair's brothers, their families, and his mother.

Trying to replicate a picture from the early 80's:

We received a special gift from our nephew, Justen, who is studying to be an architect at the Laurentian School of Architecture. He is building us this table for our new house in North Carolina from a tree that fell down the last week of December on his property:

Love it! It's a Justen Waldick original!

On January 2nd, I was lucky enough to attend the wedding reception of the son of our friends, David and Valerie. Here is a picture of the happy couple, David and Cassandra Schulz:

They chose to have a variety of wedding pies in lieu of the traditional wedding cake.

My Art Journey:

At the beginning of last year, as I mentioned in an earlier post, I signed up for a year-long mandala (and self) exploration online program called Mandala Magic 2015 with Julie Gibbons. I fell behind during the year, and now, on January 5, 2016, I am 5 months behind in the program. For this reason, my plan is to spend the rest of this month completing the program since we will lose access to it after January 31st. I will try to share some of this work, but much of it is fairly personal, involving a lot of introspection and journaling on the images.

I've also become a bit of an addict to adult coloring books, but I'll save that for another blog post.
